Your choices will be honored in this place!
In breathe/push, you will gain a solid understanding of the mental and physical processes that occur during childbirth. You will graduate knowing what to expect for yourself and your partner, as well as knowing what resources to consult when questions arise.
You will learn decision-making tools that will allow you to successfully navigate the choices ahead of you in pregnancy, birth, and parenting. We will cover some of the most common decisions you may encounter, and you will develop a framework to use to evaluate any unexpected situations that come your way.
You will establish a comprehensive set of coping skills with deep roots in mindfulness practice, through which you will tap into and embrace your own inner resilience. In addition, you and your partner will learn a number of hands-on physical comfort measures. You will be equipped with a large toolbox you can use to reduce fear and stress, manage physical discomfort, connect with your partner and your baby, and be more present and joyful in your everyday life.
breathe/push will help you grow, birth, and raise your baby in a more informed, confident and connected way.
breathe/push consists of 15 hours of interactive classroom instruction, delivered as a six-week evening series. This format was chosen to be respectful of busy schedules while still providing a comprehensive education. Coursework will also include reading and practice to complete at home, which will maximize your class experience.

breathe/push was developed and is taught by Laurel Bake, CD(DONA), co-owner of Palouse Women’s Wellness. As a practicing birth doula, Laurel has seen both the positive and negative impacts of childbirth education when and where it counts. She has taken what works, left out what doesn’t, and developed a curriculum custom-tailored to the needs of birthing families on the Palouse.
